Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my tracks missing in AudiPals?
AudiPals reads listening activity from Last.fm. If a track does not appear on Last.fm first, AudiPals cannot show it. Check your Last.fm profile at last.fm/user/YOUR-USERNAME - if the track is missing there, the issue is upstream of AudiPals.
How do I get Last.fm activity working on Android?
AudiPals does not include in-app scrobbling. Use a Last.fm-compatible method such as Spotify's native Last.fm integration or a trusted third-party Last.fm tool.
Does AudiPals scrobble directly on Android?
No. AudiPals does not perform in-app scrobbling in the current release. It displays activity that has already reached Last.fm through external integrations chosen by the user.
Why do grouped notifications say "and x other tracks"?
Reactions and votes from the same friend are grouped to reduce notification spam. You still keep the full detail, but the inbox stays readable.
What do thumbs up/down scores mean on friend tracks?
Each friend can vote once per track event. The score is up votes minus down votes and updates as people change their vote.
Can I see votes on my own recent tracks?
Yes. Open your recent track history and each track will show up votes, down votes, and a net score.
How does "Open in preferred player" work?
Set a preferred player in Settings. Tapping a friend track attempts to deep-link into that app's search first. If the app is unavailable, AudiPals falls back to a web search.
Can AudiPals post my now-playing track to Discord or Slack?
Yes. In Settings, configure a webhook URL and enable Now Playing webhook posts. AudiPals sends updates when your track changes, with de-duplication to prevent repeats.
What does friend compatibility percentage mean?
Compatibility is based on shared artists and listening overlap, not personal value. Lower values usually mean less overlap so far, and can change as listening history grows.
Can I change my username?
Yes. Go to Settings and tap Username. You can update it at any time. Usernames allow letters (upper and lower case), numbers, underscores (_), and hyphens (-). Availability is checked as you type. A case-only change — for example james to James — is allowed without an availability check.
Why am I asked to verify my email?
Email verification confirms that the address belongs to you. It is required for account recovery (if you forget your password) and for certain notification features. If you did not receive the verification email, check your spam folder or use the Resend option in Settings.
What is Privacy Mode?
Privacy Mode temporarily hides your listening activity from all your friends. Tap the privacy toggle on the home screen to turn it on or off. Your listening history is not deleted — it just becomes invisible to friends while the mode is active.
What is a Nudge?
A Nudge is a quiet ping you can send to a friend to let them know you are curious what they are listening to. Long-press a friend in the Friends tab and choose Nudge. They will receive a notification that you nudged them.
What is Listening Status?
Listening Status is a Premium feature that lets you set a short custom message — like a mood or a note — that appears alongside your current track in your friends' feeds. Set or update it from the home screen.
What is a listening streak?
Your streak increases each day that at least one scrobble reaches Last.fm. The current streak count is shown as a badge on your profile. Missing a day resets the streak to zero.
What is a music personality?
Your music personality is a short label generated weekly from your recent listening history — for example "Indie Explorer" or "Bass-Heavy Listener". It appears on your profile and updates every week.
Can I delete notifications?
Yes. Long-press any notification to enter select mode. Checkboxes appear on each item — tap the ones you want to remove and press Delete. You can also tap Select All to clear everything at once.
Why does tapping a track open a web search instead of my music app?
Check that you have chosen a preferred player in Settings. AudiPals attempts to open the app directly, but falls back to a web search if the app is not installed on your device.
